And he has that resume. ``We had five excellent candidates,'' Houston Texans owner Robert McNair said. ``We chose to go with the one who brought us continuity.'' HOUSTON (AP) -Five years ago, Eric Winston snubbed Texas A&M in favor of signing with Miami. While he enjoyed his time in Florida, the offensive tackle is ecstatic about returning to his home state to play for the Houston Texans. Winston, who grew up in Midland, caused a rift in his family when he rescinded an oral commitment to A&M to play for the Hurricanes. He upset his mother and Texas A&M alum stepfather with the decision, but still has no regrets about his choice. ``I loved College St |

HOUSTON (AP) -The Houston Texans signed former Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Dexter McCleon on Sunday, adding depth to a secondary depleted by an injury a day earlier to Demarcus Faggins. McCleon was cut by the Chiefs in March along with teammate Eric Warfield when it appeared that the team would be several million dollars over the salary cap. The Texans didn't have much experience in their group of cornerbacks before Faggins, whose fractured foot will require surgery. But that injury made adding a vet |

HOUSTON (AP) -Domanick Davis felt great to be back on the field this week after sitting out more than seven months after knee surgery. But after all went well in his first test during drills at Houston Texans training camp, there was still a nervousness gnawing at the running back. Even when he broke a long run on the outside and eluded defenders with a cutback to the inside, he still wasn't sure if his problem was fixed. The ailment that led to surgery wasn't as much about how he felt while he was pla |

The Houston Texans' No. 1 draft pick got rave reviews after his first practice of training camp on Friday, but knows that the tempo and climate of practice will take some getting used to. ``It's hot,'' he said of the 90-degree temperature mixed with stifling humidity. ``But it's probably not as hot as it's |
