Packers RB Green inactive NFL Football 10/08/2006
Green Bay, WI (MySportsbook) - Green Bay Packers running back Ahman Green will miss the team's game against the St. Louis Rams on Sunday. Green, who was also inactive in Green Bay's loss at Philadelphia last week, is sidelined with a sore hamstring. Vernand Morency, who was acquired in a trade from the Houston Texans for Samkon Gado last month, will start for the Packers. Green Bay quarterback Brett Favre, who is struggling with a pinched nerve and possible mild concussion, is active and expected to start.
Kubiak hard at work during bye week trying to fix Texans NFL Football 10/05/2006

HOUSTON (AP) -The Houston Texans are in much better shape through four games this season than they were last year. That doesn't mean things are good.

New coach Gary Kubiak is the first to acknowledge that. So while his players take a five-day vacation during their bye week, he's hard at work, trying to figure out what has gone wrong and how it can be fixed.

``We're going to go back and take our four games and evaluate what we're doing and how we're doing it and who is doing it, just what direction we t

HOUSTON (AP) -Miami Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor injured his ribs in the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Houston Texans and his return was questionable.

The 6-foot-6, 255-pound Taylor had nine tackles in Miami's first three games, including a sack. David Bowen was Taylor's backup.Copyright © 2005 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. g lineup after missing a few days of practice to be with his family after his older brother, Rashad, was killed in a traffic accident last Sunday.

Vinatieri hasn't kicked in a game since he was injured in the second half of the Colts' win over the Houston Texans two weeks ago. Martin Gramatica replaced Vinatieri for the second straight week.

Colts kicker Vinatieri practices, could play Sunday NFL Football 09/29/2006
olts kicker Adam Vinatieri, who missed last week's game with a groin injury, practiced Friday and could play against the New York Jets on Sunday.

Vinatieri has not kicked in a game since he was injured in the second half of the Colts' win over the Houston Texans two weeks ago. He did not kick at all last week and did not dress for the Jaguars game.

Colts coach Tony Dungy said Vinatieri kicked well Friday, and the team will see how he does Saturday before making a decision.

Redskins QB Brunell practices, expected to play Sunday NFL Football 09/29/2006
I practiced today, so I expect to play on Sunday,'' Brunell said. ``The arm improved over the course of the week.''

The left-handed Brunell needed three stitches to repair a nasty cut in his throwing elbow following last week's victory against the Houston Texans. He has kept the arm wrapped all week to prevent infection.

``He looked very good today, so I think we're all set,'' coach Joe Gibbs said.

Brunell has not missed a start due to injury since joining the Redskins in 2004, even when various ailment

Capers returns to Houston with Dolphins NFL Football 09/28/2006

HOUSTON (AP) -Dom Capers was fired by the Houston Texans in January after the worst season in his head coaching career. On Sunday, he'll return as an assistant with Miami to try and help the Dolphins keep the ever-struggling Texans winless.

Because Dolphins coach Nick Saban has made media access to assistants almost nonexistent, thoughts about what this game means to Capers were left to those permitted to address the subject.

e for Sunday's game against his old team, the Jacksonville Jaguars.

``He threw today. He's going to practice tomorrow,'' trainer Bubba Tyer said.

The left-handed Brunell cut the elbow on his throwing arm during last week's 31-15 victory over the Houston Texans. He needed three stitches to close the wound and has kept the arm tightly wrapped all week to guard against infection.

Brunell wore a smaller bandage Thursday and kept scratching the elbow as he stood by his locker. His movement with the arm was r

, Thomas made a major change in the kitty rules.

``If we win, then nobody gets fined,'' left tackle Chris Samuels said with a big smile. ``I like that rule.''

No kidding. The line was whistled for six penalties in Sunday's 31-15 victory over the Houston Texans. Five of them were accepted, contributing to a tally that has made the Redskins the most penalized team in the NFL three weeks into the season.

``It's killing us,'' coach Joe Gibbs said. ``If I don't find some way to emphasize it, to get it taught

k Mark Brunell from practicing Wednesday, although he is expected to play Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Brunell was injured when he was shoved by Thomas Johnson during a fumble return by Shantee Orr in last week's 31-15 victory over the Houston Texans. Johnson was called for a personal foul on the play, negating a touchdown.

Brunell finished the game but later needed a stitches for the cut, which was on the left-handed quarterback's throwing arm. He has since kept the elbow carefully wrapped as
