NFL Football |
10/05/2009 |
| |
| Minneapolis, MN (MySportsbook) - Green Bay Packers left tackle Chad Clifton is inactive for Monday night's game against the Minnesota Vikings because of an ankle sprain. Clifton also missed last week's game against St. Louis because of the injury, which he suffered in Week 2 against Cincinnati. He did not practice all week, and was listed as questionable on the injury report. |

Then both Detroit and Minnesota have to take an extra day off because Monday Night Football's latest revenge extravaganza - Vikings quarterback Brett Favre squaring off against his former team, the Green Bay Packers - has the Metrodome locked up. As it is, Leyland had to burn his best pitcher, Justin Verlander, to extend the Tigers season Sunday, and he'll have to use his second-best, rookie Rick Porcello, to have any shot of playing beyond Tuesday. | Facing Favre not personal for young Packers |

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -For fans of the Green Bay Packers, the prospect of facing Brett Favre in Vikings purple Monday night is filled with emotional angst. To the media, it's Favremageddon! The matchup is causing far less consternation for Packers players. Of the 53 players on the Green Bay roster, 21 joined the team after the 2007 season and never played with Favre. And while Favre remains close with former teammates such as wide receiver Donald Driver, others who played with Favre for a year or two say t |

So no matter how much Favre has tried to shrug off the significance of facing the Green Bay Packers this week, he'll never be able to minimize his place in the spotlight. ``I don't think about it,'' he said Thursday. ``I don't go home and watch TV, read the papers. I usually help with homework, and then we went to the movie yesterday. I usually |

| It's Favre vs. Pack, but Rodgers could steal show |
NFL Football |

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -It's supposed to be Brett Favre versus the Green Bay Packers, an intense one-game referendum on whether Favre's former team made the right choice when it sent the three-time MVP packing last season. And if Aaron Rodgers steals the show with a big performance against the Minnesota Vikings at the Metrodome on Monday night, he could take a huge step toward proving the Packers right. If Rodgers feels any extra incentive this week, he's not letting on. The second-year starter insisted it' |

Brees was named offensive player of the month after leading the Saints to a 3-0 record. He started the season with a six-touchdown effort in a 45-27 rout of Detroit, tying the franchise record. The next week in Philadelphia, his three touchdown passes helped the team to a 48-22 |

NFL Football |

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -Brett Favre says he isn't out for revenge against the Green Bay Packers on Monday night, contradicting his previously stated desire to stick it to the man who traded him, general manager Ted Thompson. The Minnesota Vikings quarterback opened a conference call Thursday by asserting that revenge had nothing to do with his comeback, and he only wants to win a championship. But when reminded of his comments to si.com in February - in which Favre said part of his motivation last season wa |

| (MySportsbook) - The St. Louis Rams obtained an unwanted record with this past Sunday's 36-17 home loss to the Green Bay Packers, not to mention a rather disgraceful title as well. With the Detroit Lions ending their 19-game losing streak with a 19-14 victory over Washington in Week 3, the Rams now become the unquestioned standard- bearers of futility in the NFL. St. Louis has now dropped its last 13 contests dating back to last season, the longest skid in the franchise's 72-year, three-city existence. One co |
