Packers cut ties with executive Jones Headlines 07/20/2007

MILWAUKEE (AP) -The Green Bay Packers cut ties with former executive John Jones on Friday and began their new search to replace longtime Packers leader Bob Harlan.

Jones is expected to receive a seven-figure financial settlement from the team, but officials said in a statement that the terms of his departure would remain confidential and no further comment would be made on his resignation.

In a statement, Jones said he was resigning because of health concerns - even though Packers executives cited vague `

But Kuhn then leaped off the Aaron bandwagon. He was in Cleveland for an Indians booster club meeting when Aaron passed Ruth in Atlanta - another slight that left Aaron frustrated.

Selig and Aaron are old friends who attended Green Bay Packers games together back when both lived in Milwaukee. Selig has remained conspicuously mum on whether he'll be in attendance for Bonds' record-breaking game, likely because the commissioner knows he'll be asked to assess Bonds' place in history amid the

Favre shut down with sore shoulder NFL Football 06/14/2007

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -Brett Favre was held out of the Green Bay Packers' practices Wednesday and Thursday because of a sore right shoulder.

``I probably could practice, but it really don't make a lot of sense to go out and make it any worse,'' Favre said. ``I think it's probably just tendinitis or something like that.''

Coach Mike McCarthy said the medical staff doesn't consider the injury serious.

Favre, however, won't be on the field next Monday and Tuesday, when the Packers conclude their workouts.

Harlan still Packers' top executive; Jones takes personal leave NFL Football 05/27/2007
Green Bay, WI (MySportsbook) - Bob Harlan, who was reportedly going to announce his retirement as the principal executive of the Green Bay Packers next week, will stay in his position for the time being. That's because John Jones, the successor to Harlan, announced he is taking a leave of absence for personal reasons. "We determined that it would be mutually beneficial for John to take a leave of absence while we continue our evaluation of the situation and collectively determine next steps," said Peter Platt
