4-1 loss in Washington on Tuesday. Whitney had surgery on March 15 to repair a damaged bursa in his leg. He had missed the Carolina's previous 12 games. The 35-year-old is Carolina's second-leader scorer this season with 25 goals and 59 points in 63 games. Williams had been out of action since he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in a 5-4 loss to the Florida Panthers on December 20.
