Suh encouraged by Lions' impressive finish NFL Football 01/25/2011

Ndamukong Suh noticed one thing about the two teams that played in the NFC championship game last weekend.

Both the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears had trouble with his Detroit Lions this season.

Suh says he'll never be ``a moral victory guy'' but he was encouraged by Detroit's competitiveness against the conference's top teams. The Lions won their last four games to finish 6-10, including a victory over Super Bowl-bound Green Bay.

Detroit lost to Chicago twice, but by a combined nine points.

PLYMOUTH, Mich. (AP) - Prosecutors will not file charges against a Detroit Lions player who was accused of sexual misconduct by a woman during a private party at a restaurant in suburban Detroit.

The Wayne County prosecutor's office said Tuesday there is ``insufficient evidence'' to persuade a jury there was a crime beyond a reasonable doubt.

Police in Plymouth, a suburb west of Detroit, presented the case to prosecutors last week. A 22-year-old woman said she was assaulted early on Jan. 4 while atten

Lions QB Stafford has shoulder surgery NFL Football 01/21/2011
Allen Park, MI (MySportsbook) - Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford underwent successful shoulder surgery on Friday. The surgery was performed by acclaimed Dr. James Andrews, who repaired the AC joint of Stafford's throwing arm. "We now have plenty of time for a full recovery in order for him to get ready for next season," Andrews said. "The procedure is the same one that we have successfully performed on a number of NFL quarterbacks. Matthew has one of the strongest arms in the league and I am con

The Bears hired Martz hoping he could get Jay Cutler to cut down on the interceptions after throwing a league-leading 26 last season - his first in Chicago - and provide the sort of early lift he helped give the Rams and Detroit Lions.

In St. Louis, he orchestrated one of the most prolific offenses the league has seen.

The 1999 Rams won the Super Bowl and produced the first of a record three straight 500-point seasons in his first year as offensive coordinator under Dick Verm

Police finish probe of claim against Lions player Headlines 01/19/2011

DETROIT (AP) - Police in suburban Detroit have completed their investigation into a misconduct accusation against a Detroit Lions player.

A 22-year-old woman accused the player of ``inappropriate contact'' during the early morning hours of Jan. 4 at the Ironwood Grill in Plymouth.

Plymouth police Chief Al Cox told The Associated Press on Wednesday his department has turned over the findings to the Wayne County prosecutor's office. Prosecution officials didn't immediately return a message.

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. (AP) - Former Detroit Lions wide receiver Tommie Boyd has pleaded guilty to a second-degree criminal sexual conduct charge on accusations involving a 15-year-old girl.

The 39-year-old Boyd entered the plea Tuesday in Macomb County Circuit Court, where his trial was about to start. In exchange, authorities have dropped five other charges.

The victim and her parents were in court and say they agreed with the deal. The girl has said Boyd offered her $5,000 to have sex, then gave her

On Monday, Holmgren is scheduled to meet with Cleveland's assistant coaches. After firing Man
