DETROIT (AP) -Brett Favre has another NFL record.

Favre started Sunday for the 271st straight time in the regular season, playing for the Minnesota Vikings against the Detroit Lions. He handed off to running back Adrian Peterson after taking his first snap.

Favre sets straight-starts record NFL Football 09/20/2009
Detroit, MI (MySportsbook) - Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre made his 271st consecutive start on Sunday to set the NFL record. Starting against the Detroit Lions, Favre set the record previously held by defensive end Jim Marshall, who made 270 straight starts for Minnesota from 1961-79. Favre holds several other NFL records including most touchdown passes, most passing yards, most completions, most pass attempts and most interceptions thrown. Including the playoffs, he has made 293 straight star
More challenges for Lions defense with Vikes in town NFL Football 09/19/2009
(MySportsbook) - Last week, the Detroit Lions had the pleasure of seeing Drew Brees, the reigning NFL Offensive Player of the Year and the league's best passer a year ago. This Sunday, when the Minnesota Vikings visit Ford Field, they'll be facing the current king of the NFL rushing chart, Adrian Peterson. And, as if that isn't enough, the all-time leading passer in league history, one Brett Favre, will be appearing in purple as well. Thanks to NFL extension, Lions avoid blackout NFL Football 09/18/2009

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) -The Detroit Lions have dodged the bullet, using an extension from the NFL to sell out their home opener against the Minnesota Vikings and avoid a TV blackout.

The Lions on Thursday still had 1,700 tickets to sell by 1 p.m. Friday for the game to be televised in the Detroit, Lansing, Saginaw-Flint and Toledo, Ohio, markets.

Detroit had 50 straight sellouts at Ford Field until Oct. 26, 2008, when it played Washington. The Lions failed to sell out other games later in the season e

Brett Favre set to break starts streak with 271 NFL Football 09/17/2009

DETROIT (AP) -Brett Favre is set to break the NFL record for consecutive starts. Chances are, he will have fond memories of the milestone-making game in a Minnesota Vikings uniform against perhaps his friendliest foe: the Detroit Lions.

Favre has 8,524 yards passing against the lowly Lions, his highest total versus any team, and the first of 25 career victories against them was in his first playoff game in 1994.

When Favre takes his first snap Sunday in Detroit, he will start for the 271st regular-sea

Former Lions coach Monte Clark passes away NFL Football 09/17/2009
Allen Park, MI (MySportsbook) - Monte Clark, a former coach of the Detroit Lions and an NFL player, died on Wednesday night at the age of 72. Clark passed away at Henry Ford Hospital due to an extended illness with bone marrow malignancy caused by lung and liver disease. After an 11-year playing career with San Francisco, Dallas and Cleveland, Clark first made a name for himself as the offensive line coach of the Miami Dolphins, who went to three Super Bowls during his tenure from 1970-75. Clark then took
Police: Ex-Lion Rogers arrested for driving drunk Headlines 09/17/2009

NOVI, Mich. (AP) -Former Detroit Lions wide receiver Charles Rogers has been arrested on a drunken-driving charge.

Police say the 28-year-old Rogers was arrested Wednesday afternoon after he refused a Breathalyzer test. Results of a blood test are pending.

Rogers was arraigned Thursday on charges of operating while intoxicated and operating without a valid license. He was ordered held on $50,000 bond and didn't have an attorney on record with the court. A pretrial conference is set for Monday.

Former Lions coach Monte Clark dies at 72 NFL Football 09/17/2009

DETROIT (AP) -Former Detroit Lions coach Monte Clark has died at 72.

The Lions said Clark died Wednesday night at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He had a bone marrow malignancy associated with lung and liver disease.

Clark coached the Lions for seven seasons and was an assistant on the Miami Dolphins team that went 17-0 in 1972. He was the coach of Detroit from 1978-84 and had a 63-61-1 record in the regular season.

THE BIG BREES-Y As you know if you were lit up by him in fantasy, Drew Brees threw six touchdown passes in the Saints' 45-27 win over the Detroit Lions, who also showed a beating heart in their debut under Jim Schwartz. Brees needs to average exactly three touchdowns per game the rest of the way to break Tom Brady's single-season TD pass record. He might not throw six again this season, but betcha
