DENVER (AP) -The Denver Broncos fired defensive line/tackles coach Andre Patterson on Wednesday, one day after dismissing defensive coordinator Larry Coyer. The moves came after Denver's defense wilted and the team limped to a 9-7 record despite a strong start. Team spokesman Jim Saccomano declined to discuss why Patterson was let go. Patterson had been with the team for two seasons and has been in the NFL for 10 years. Denver jumped to a 7-2 start this season behind a stout defense that didn't allow |

DENVER (AP) -Larry Coyer didn't know what to say after he was fired as defensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos. So he sent out a personally typed-up statement Tuesday. That way the always talkative Coyer wouldn't accidentally let something slip out of anger. ``I have the highest regard for him (Mike Shanahan) and have no choice but to accept his decision and do so with as much dignity and grace as I can muster,'' Coyer said in the prepared statement. Coyer wasn't taking calls at his house, but hi |

DENVER (AP) -The Denver Broncos fired defensive coordinator Larry Coyer on Tuesday, nine days after a once-promising season sputtered to a close with five losses in seven games. Coyer oversaw a defense that started this season by becoming the first team in 64 years to not allow a touchdown over the first 11 quarters. But the squad faltered, finishing 14th in the league in yards allowed as the Broncos stumbled from a 7-2 start to finish 9-7. ``I have the highest regard for him (Mike Shanahan) and have |

Maybe it's because Pryce has found redemption with the Ravens, who signed him as a free agent in March after the Denver Broncos dumped the four-time Pro Bowl star in a salary-cap purge. ``There's more to being a professional athlete than winning. We all get paid a lot of money and we all are in the spotlight; but there's more to it than that, too,'' Pryce said. ``It's how |

DENVER (AP) -An attorney for a 23-year-old man facing police questioning in the slaying of Denver Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams said Monday that his client knows nothing about the shooting. In the first public comments made on his behalf, Willie Clark's attorney, Michael Andre, also said his client's arrest for a parole violation is the result of mistaken identity, Denver media reported. Andre did not immediately return a call left at his office by The Associated Press. ``My hope is to start clea |
