DALLAS (AP) -Dallas Stars defenseman Mattias Norstrom retired Wednesday, ending a 14-year career that included stops with the New York Rangers and Los Angeles Kings.

The 36-year-old Norstrom played 903 career NHL games, most of them in Los Angeles, where was a captain.

Five of Norstrom's seven career playoff points came in this year's trip to the Western Conference finals, the deepest postseason run for Dallas since 2000. The Stars were eliminated in six games by Stanley Cup champion Detroit.

DENVER (AP) -The Colorado Avalanche acquired forward Marty Sertich from the Dallas Stars on Tuesday, giving up a conditional pick in the 2009 NHL draft.

The 25-year-old Sertich was with the Iowa Stars of the American Hockey League for the past two seasons. He had 27 goals and 25 assists last season to lead Iowa in scoring.

The 5-foot-9, 165-pound center played four seasons at Colorado College, winning the Hobey Baker Memorial Award - the Heisman of college hockey - in 2004-05. He led the nation that

PITTSBURGH (AP) -The Detroit Red Wings enjoyed a day off fit for the stars.

Not the Dallas Stars, either.

Blocked by the NHL from returning to Detroit during the two-day layoff between Games 3 and 4 of the Stanley Cup finals, the Red Wings spent a day of luxury Thursday at the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort about 70 miles south of Pittsburgh.

Some players took advantage of the resort's spas, while others received massages and played informal soccer games. Other activities at the resort included golf at
