Browns interview Rams' Shurmur NFL Football 01/07/2011

CLEVELAND (AP) - The Cleveland Browns have interviewed St. Louis Rams offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur for their coaching position.

Shurmur met Friday with Browns president Mike Holmgren, who fired Eric Mangini on Monday after a second straight losing season. The first candidate in for a formal interview, Shurmur, 45, is appealing because of his work with St. Louis rookie quarterback Sam Bradford. The Browns want to further develop rookie Colt McCoy for the future.

AFC North: Big names surface in Browns' coaching search NFL Football 01/05/2011
(MySportsbook) - The Cleveland Browns' highly-expected decision to part ways with head coach Eric Mangini on Monday barely raised an eyebrow from NFL onlookers. The quest to find a successor could prove to be considerably more interesting. Plenty of potential candidates have had their names bandied out for weeks prior to Mangini's inevitable ousting less than 24 hours after the Browns' concluded their 2010 season with a discouraging 41-9 home beatdown by the AFC North champion Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.
