Jay Cutler says Bears' problems go beyond O-line NFL Football 11/05/2009

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) -Jay Cutler was sore and a bit black and blue.

He ran five times for 32 yards but absorbed four sacks and spent plenty of time also running for cover in the Chicago Bears' 30-6 win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. One hit caused him to bite his tongue, leaving him with a bloody mouth.

The Bears certainly took a beating during the win, particularly the guy behind center who also happens to carry the franchise's long-term hopes in his right arm. Cutler's been on the move all seas

Browns' Lewis going ahead with retirement plans NFL Football 11/04/2009

BEREA, Ohio (AP) -Cleveland Browns running back Jamal Lewis hasn't changed his mind about retiring after this season.

Lewis said Wednesday he still intends to call it quits at the end of this season, his 10th in the NFL. He announced his decision following Sunday's 30-6 loss in Chicago, leading some to wonder if the 30-year-old was speaking from frustration and emotion.

He maintains Cleveland's Jan. 3 home game against Jacksonville will be his last.

Lewis is disappointed with the Browns' 1-7 record, bu

Browns release K Cundiff, DB Madison NFL Football 11/03/2009
Berea, OH (MySportsbook) - The Cleveland Browns on Tuesday released kicker Billy Cundiff and defensive back Anthony Madison. Cundiff went 6-for-6 on field goals filling in for an injured Phil Dawson, while Madison saw time on special teams in four games, recording two tackles. Over 63 games with Dallas, New Orleans and the Browns, Cundiff has made 66 field goals on 89 attempts. Madison boasts career totals of one fumble recovery and 21 tackles in 40 games with the Steelers and Browns.

a single game, matching a five-pick performance at Seattle on December 9, 2007...Running back Tim Hightower had a team-best eight catches totaling 57 yards in Sunday's loss. NEXT UP: Arizona will attempt to keep up its road success when the defending NFC champions head to Chicago's Soldier Field for a key matchup with a Bears club that's won all three of its home tilts this year and is fresh off a 30-6 dismantling of the hapless Cleveland Browns. Both teams will be entering the game with identical 4-3 records.

BROWNS: Despite being seven games into the NFL season, the Cleveland Browns are right where they were when the year began. Actually, that isn't totally true. The Browns do have one win, which is more than they had before the season started. Still, Cleveland began the Eric Mangini era unsure who would start at quarterback. U

e things." BEARS: Those questioning whether Jay Cutler truly had the competitive fire to be a successful NFL quarterback aren't questioning now. Well, the competitive fire part, anyway. Cutler displayed his frustrations late in a 30-6 blowout of the Cleveland Browns, when the Bears offense failed to finish off a long drive for a touchdown. In seven red-zone trips on the day, the Bears punched it the end zone just twice, and against a Browns defense that continues to rank at or near the bottom of the league in m

And, for the second straight year, Jack Del Rio's team chose the darker path. Last season, it was a home loss to the woeful Cleveland Browns that precipitated the Jags' descent to an eventual last-place finish. On Sunday, Jacksonville went to Tennessee and handed the Titans their first win of the year, 30-13, in a game that saw Del Rio and company fall apart soon after a 79- yard touchdo

The loss will make for another rough couple of weeks for Jauron, whose support level in and around Buffalo now resides in the same valley where it was after the Bills dropped to 1-4 with that dismal 6-3 loss to the Cleveland Browns back on Oct. 11th. Not that Jauron is ducking or deflecting responsibility for his club's performance. "I think the whole thing falls on me," conceded Jauron. "I don't think there's any doubt. Bears feel need to improve despite routing Browns NFL Football 11/03/2009

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) -Jay Cutler was on the run and bleeding for much of the game, yet he insisted afterward he was fine. No reason to worry.

Even so, the Chicago Bears did little to calm their anxious fans in a 30-6 win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. Lopsided score aside, it was far from a perfect performance by a team that had dropped two straight and was coming off a 45-10 beating at Cincinnati that ranked among its worst in years.

But the Bears weren't about to be picky. Not after what happen

Kokinis out as Browns GM NFL Football 11/03/2009
Cleveland, OH (MySportsbook) - George Kokinis is out as general manager of the Cleveland Browns. The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported that Kokinis, who was in his first year as the Browns GM, was escorted out of the Browns facility in Berea by security Monday. However, the Browns organization denied those reports in a statement Monday night, saying "Kokinis is no longer actively involved with the organization." Cleveland has struggled to a 1-7 start this season under new head coach Eric Mangini. The Browns, w
