Reds' Cueto will miss next start with elbow strain MLB Baseball 08/25/2008
Cincinnati, OH (MySportsbook) - Cincinnati Reds pitcher Johnny Cueto will miss his next scheduled start with a strained right elbow. The rookie right-hander departed from Sunday's 4-3 loss against the Colorado Rockies after three innings. Cueto was examined by team physician Dr. Timothy Kremchek on Monday and was diagnosed with a posterior strain of the elbow, possibly caused by a hyperextension. He will be re-examined Friday. Cueto is 8-12 with a 4.65 earned run average in 27 games this season.

10-3 over their 13 contests. Hoping to keep the Cubs in the win column this evening will be left-hander Ted Lilly, who is 12-7 with a 4.25 ERA. Lilly, though, was charged with the loss in his last trip to the hill despite a pretty solid effort. The Cincinnati Reds managed just two runs and two hits off Lilly in Chicago's 2-1 loss on Wednesday. It was his first setback since he fell to the Reds back on July 10. Lilly defeated the Pirates the last time he faced them and is 2-0 against them with a 4.74 ERA in ei

The righty will be examined Monday in Cincinnati. Cueto threw three hitless innings, despite giving up a run, while striking out four and walking three. The Reds' rookie starter was 8-12 on the year with a 4.74 earned run average going into Sunday's game with 142 strikeouts in 152 innings. He was replaced by Nick Masset.

(MySportsbook) - All-Star teammates Aaron Cook and Edinson Volquez meet for the second time in a month tonight when the Colorado Rockies host the Cincinnati Reds in the middle test of their three-game weekend series at Coors Field. The two right-handers, who've combined for 30 wins so far in 2008, met in Cincinnati on July 25 in a game won by the Rockies, 7-2. Lohse was sentenced to a five-game penalty on Wednesday after the NL powers- that-be deemed that he "intentionally (threw) a pitch in the head area of Edinson Volquez" during his six-inning stint in a 7-3 loss to the Cincinnati Reds. The loss to the Reds, for whom Lohse pitched in 2006 and 2007, was his third straight and fourth in five starts since starting the season at 12-2. Zambrano tries to dominate Reds again in finale MLB Baseball 08/21/2008
(MySportsbook) - Right-hander Carlos Zambrano can replicate a July masterpiece in August when the Chicago Cubs host the Cincinnati Reds in the finale of a three-game series today at Wrigley Field. A 13-time winner in his career against the Reds, Zambrano limited them to a single hit and a single run over eight nearly flawless innings in a 5-1 victory on July 9 at Wrigley. He walked none and struck out five in that triumph, which raised him to 13-9 with a 3.10 earned run average in 30 appearances -- 26 start
