| New York, NY (MySportsbook) - The NFL suspended Carolina Panthers defensive back Dante Wesley for one game without pay due to his hit against Buccaneers kick returner Clifton Smith on Sunday. Wesley was the first Panthers player down on a punt return late in the second quarter and left his feet before connecting with the helmet of Smith, who had not yet fielded the punt. The veteran of eight years was immediately ejected from the game, while Smith suffered a concussion. The league said Wesley "committed an un |

In Week 3, the Redskins lost to the Detroit Lions, 0-2 at the time and riding a 19-game losing streak. Last weekend, the Redskins lost to the Carolina Panthers, who were 0-3 entering that game. Now comes the loss to Kansas City, which was 0-5. ``It's going to be a very hard week. Last week, I thought that was as hard as it can get,'' Zorn said. ``It just got harder.'' TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -Defensive end Stylez G. White moved into Tampa Bay's starting lineup against the Carolina Panthers, replacing Gaines Adams, who was traded to Chicago two days before Sunday's game. Adams was the fourth overall pick in the 2007 draft, but did not play up to expectations in two-plus seasons with the Bucs. The team received a 2010 second-round pick from the Bears. Byron Leftwich was Tampa Bay's inactive third quarterback. Fullback B.J. Askew, receiver Yamon Figurs, cornerback Derrick Robers |

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -The Carolina Panthers can imagine the sense of urgency building within the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Only a week removed from being winless themselves, the defending NFC South champions are still feeling some heat at 1-3. Raheem Morris and the Bucs are 0-5, searching for some of the same answers the Panthers believe they've begun to find. ``This game takes confidence, and obviously winning breeds confidence,'' said Carolina coach John Fox, whose team beat Washington last Sunday to brighten t |

| Shoulder injury ends season for Steelers' Smith |

PITTSBURGH (AP) -Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end Aaron Smith will miss the rest of the season with a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder, an injury that significantly weakens what was the NFL's best defense the last two seasons. The Steelers placed Smith on the injured reserve list Wednesday, which means he cannot play again this season. He is scheduled to have surgery later this week. To replace Smith on their 53-man roster, the Steelers re-signed Ra'Shon ``Sunny'' Harris, a sixth-round draft pick that they cut in September. Harris had been on the Carolina Panthers' practice squad.Copyright © 2005 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. Smith compiled two sacks in five games and he also blocked a field goal attempt during Pittsburgh's season-opening win over Tennessee. The 33-year-old Smith has recorded 44 sacks and 436 tackles in 150 career games with the Steelers, who selected him in the fourth round of the 1999 draft.
