Panthers sign S McCadam NFL Football 03/21/2006

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -The Carolina Panthers signed free-agent safety Kevin McCadam from the Atlanta Falcons on Tuesday.

McCadam is the second safety signed by the Panthers, who are looking to replace Marlon McCree following his departure for the San Diego Chargers. Carolina also signed Shaun Williams last week from the New York Giants.

McCadam has played in 54 games with six starts for the Falcons during his four-year career. He appeared in 16 games for Atlanta last season, primarily on special teams.

Oakland, CA (MySportsbook) - The Oakland Raiders signed free agent defensive back Tyrone Poole to an undisclosed contract on Monday. Poole spent the past three seasons with the New England Patriots, but played in just six games over the past two seasons because of injury. He was released by the Patriots on March 16. A 10-year veteran, Poole has 17 interceptions 497 tackles, five sacks, 10 forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries. He began his career with the Carolina Panthers in 1995.

Williams, who played under Panthers coach John Fox when Fox was the New York Giants' defensive coordinator, missed eight games and the postseason last season because of a hamstring injury.
