| Ravens Primed to Halt Panthers' Streak |

| (MySportsbook) - Are the streaking Carolina Panthers back? We'll be able to answer that question more accurately when John Fox's team faces the 4-1 Baltimore Ravens on Sunday at M&T Bank Stadium. The Panthers were a popular preseason favorite to represent the NFC in Super Bowl XLI this February, but a disappointing 0-2 start and a bevy of injuries helped drop their stock in the eyes of most pundits. Just then, Carolina ripped off a three-game winning streak, outclassing the likes of Tampa Bay (26-24), New |

BALTIMORE (AP) -The Carolina Panthers figure it won't be long before Steve McNair displays the form that earned him an MVP award and three trips to the Pro Bowl. They can only hope the process takes at least another week. If the Panthers (3-2) are to earn their fourth consecutive victory Sunday, they can't allow McNair to break out of a funk that has brought the Baltimore offense to a virtual standstill. The Ravens have scored only one touchdown over a 114-minute span and totaled a mere 31 points in their |

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -The lingering effects of multiple concussions have ended Dan Morgan's season, but the Carolina Panthers' star linebacker is determined to play again. ``Absolutely,'' Morgan said Wednesday. ``I'm obviously frustrated, but I can turn that into a positive. I think that will make me that much more hungry to come back next season and have a great season.'' Morgan acknowledged he suffered a concussion in the Panthers' opening exhibition game against Jacksonville, and then a month later in |

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -John Fox was so concerned about making the right choice with the No. 2 pick in the 2002 draft that he watched hours and hours of film on Julius Peppers. And it wasn't only football tape. Fox, just hired as coach of the Carolina Panthers, was trying to determine if Peppers, a freakish athlete, didn't play hard on every down. ``That was the knock,'' Fox recalled this week. ``We worked probably as hard on that pick as I've ever been a part of in terms of research. Typically, you only |

| (MySportsbook) - The Carolina Panthers' defense decided to get back down to business this week, and Charlie Frye and the Cleveland Browns paid the price. In Sunday's 20-12 victory over the Browns, the Panthers did all of the things -- stuffing the run, mercilessly pressuring the quarterback and forcing crucial turnovers -- that made their defense one of the most feared units in the NFL heading into this season. Carolina had been solid but sporadic on that side of the ball through the first four weeks, having |

Sauerbrun has run into trouble several other times over his 12-year career. He was one of three Carolina Panthers players named in a steroid scandal involving a South Carolina physician who was accused of writing illegal prescriptions for steroids. He also ran afoul of the law in December of 2004 when he was arrested for drunken driving. He pleaded guilty to th |

The only way those interrogatives will be answered will be for the attack to bounce back, beginning with this Sunday's matchup against the streaking Carolina Panthers and their own hard-hitting defense. "This is a wake-up call for us," said McNair. "But it's not [hitting] the panic button. We've got opportunities to come back next week and play again." IN THE RUNNING? CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -Carolina Panthers rookie running back DeAngelo Williams left Sunday's game against Cleveland after injuring his right ankle on a first-half carry. Williams, a first-round draft pick, was hurt when he went down in a pile on a 4-yard gain with about five minutes left in the second quarter. He had to be helped to the sideline while putting little weight on the leg, then was carted to the locker room after being examined behind the bench. His return was questionable. Copyright © |
