BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - The Buffalo Bills released defensive lineman Marcus Stroud in a move on Wednesday that freed up salary and playing time for the team's young and developing players.

Stroud's departure was not considered a surprise after the 10-year NFL veteran struggled in making the transition in Buffalo's switch to a 3-4 defensive scheme. Stroud was scheduled to make $10 million in base salary over the final two years of his contract, including $4.5 million next season.

Bills give Corto contract extension NFL Football 02/11/2011
Orchard Park, NY (MySportsbook) - The Buffalo Bills signed safety Jon Corto to a contract extension on Friday. Corto has been a solid special teams contributor for the Bills during his three seasons with the team. The Orchard Park native missed the first five games of the 2010 season due to a broken wrist, but he appeared in the final 11 contests and finished tied for fifth on the team in special teams tackles. Corto, an undrafted free agent in 2007, spent his first year in the NFL on the practice squad.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) - The Buffalo Bills have signed backup safety Jon Corto to a contract extension.

The move was announced Friday and prevents the third-year player from becoming a restricted free agent. Corto, who is from Orchard Park, has been primarily used on special teams in Buffalo.

He appeared in 11 games last season after opening the year on the physically-unable-to-perform list after having surgery in July on a broken left wrist.
