``It's frustrating,'' Buffalo Bills receiver/quarterback Brad Smith said after watching the team's first walk-through of training camp in suburban Rochester on Saturday. ``It's good. I can sit here and watch the guys go through the plays and learn the system. It hurts a little bit. Bu

Bills sign 1st-round pick DL Marcell Dareus NFL Football 07/29/2011

PITTSFORD, N.Y. (AP) - The Buffalo Bills are opening camp with first-round draft pick Marcell Dareus under contract.

A person familiar with the deal said Friday the defensive lineman agreed to a four-year, $20.4 million contract. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the Bills have not released terms.

Selected third overall out of Alabama, Dareus signed about 90 minutes before the Bills were to take the field for conditioning in suburban Rochester. The first practi

Orchard Park, NY (MySportsbook) - The Buffalo Bills have agreed to terms with defensive lineman Marcell Dareus, their top pick in April's draft. Dareus was taken No. 3 overall after a standout career at Alabama. He was an anchor for a line that helped the Crimson Tide win the national title in 2009, and was named defensive MVP of the BCS championship game. The 6-foot-3, 319-pounder finished last season with 34 total tackles and 4.5 sacks. He missed the first two games in 2010 after being suspended by the
QB Fitzpatrick relishing the Bills' top spot NFL Football 07/27/2011

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) - Ryan Fitzpatrick was the first player to walk into the Buffalo Bills practice facility when the doors opened Tuesday morning. When they closed later that night, he likely was the last one to leave.

For the first time in his career, Fitzpatrick is entering a season as the starting quarterback, and he couldn't hide his enthusiasm for getting things rolling on the first day that players could congregate and meet with their coaches.

Fitzpatrick was the driving force in organizing

Buffalo, NY (MySportsbook) - The Buffalo Bills and quarterback Tyler Thigpen have reportedly agreed to a contract. The Buffalo News quoted Thigpen's agent in its report Wednesday. Thigpen spent last season with Miami and has also played for Kansas City in four NFL seasons. He started 11 games for the Chiefs in 2008, when current Bills head coach Chan Gailey was his offensive coordinator. During his extended play with the Chiefs in 2008, which included three other games off the bench, Thigpen completed 54.
Buffalo Bills reinstate salaries, 401(k) payments NFL Football 07/25/2011

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - The Buffalo Bills have reinstated both 401(k) plan contributions and full salaries to employees now that the NFL lockout is being lifted, the team's CEO Russ Brandon has confirmed to The Associated Press.

Employees will also be reimbursed for back pay and have their contributions restored since both were cut when the lockout began in March, Brandon said in an e-mail Monday evening.

oug Ford is now common knowledge. Can the two leagues co-exist if the NFL came to Toronto? A: One of the reasons why we've been successful, is because we don't speculate on what might happen. When Rogers (Communications, the company that brought the Buffalo Bills to Toronto in an eight-game, five-year series) said they were bringing the Bills here, we said let's focus on improving our league and growing our game. Bills coaching staff latest to side with owners NFL Football 06/02/2011

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Add the Buffalo Bills coaching staff to others around the league in distancing themselves from the NFL Coaches Association's decision to side with players in the NFL labor dispute.

Offensive coordinator Curtis Modkins says the entire Bills staff supports team owner Ralph Wilson. Modkins adds, Bills coaches had no knowledge of the NFLCA's intention to file a brief to a federal appeals court last week supporting the players' bid to have the lockout lifted.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - The Buffalo Bills have suspended payments to their employees' pension benefits and 401K plans during the NFL labor dispute and potentially the rest of the year, the team's chief executive officer confirmed in a statement emailed to The Associated Press on Tuesday.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Tom Modrak is out as the Buffalo Bills chief scout, the team announced Wednesday.

General manager Buddy Nix says Modrak's dismissal comes as part of the team's plan to reorganize its personnel department. Modrak held the title of vice president of college scouting, and had been with the Bills since 2001.

The move comes after the Bills completed what was regarded as a successful draft last weekend, in which the team addressed its porous defense.
