Ravens sign P Koch to 5-year contract, agent says NFL Football 02/01/2011

OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) - Punter Sam Koch has agreed to a five-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens.

Koch, a Pro Bowl alternate, averaged 43.6 yards per kick this season and had a career-high 39 punts downed inside the 20-yard line.

Koch's agent, Steve Mudder, says ``the Ravens were very fair to Sam'' in working out the terms of the deal.

Over five seasons with Baltimore, Koch has averaged 43.7 yards per punt, netted 38.1 yards and had only two kicks blocked.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco is angry over the team's decision to fire quarterbacks coach Jim Zorn.

OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) - The Baltimore Ravens have fired quarterbacks coach Jim Zorn, who spent one year on the job after being dismissed as head coach of the Washington Redskins.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh says offensive coordinator Cam Cameron will work closer with quarterback Joe Flacco next season. Harbaugh says ``we believe this will help improve our offense.''

The move was announced Thursday. Harbaugh also announced that offensive assistant Craig Ver Steeg will assist with Baltimore's quarterbacks.

HARVEY, La. (AP) - An autopsy has confirmed that a body pulled from the Mississippi River is that of the brother of Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed.

Authorities on Wednesday had tentatively identified the body as 28-year-old Brian Reed, who jumped into the river about 30 miles northwest of New Orleans after an encounter with a sheriff's deputy on Jan. 7.

The autopsy Thursday by the Jefferson Parish coroner's office confirmed his identity and found the preliminary cause of death to be accidental drowning.

LULING, La. (AP) - Authorities say a body recovered late Tuesday from the Mississippi River in Louisiana has been tentatively identified as the brother of Baltimore Ravens' star safety Ed Reed.

As family members of Brian Reed looked on Wednesday, St. Charles Parish Sheriff Greg Champagne said tattoos on the body match those belonging to Brian Reed. More tests are planned.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A private search team called in by Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed and family members suspended a search of the Mississippi River late Monday, but planned to return ``no matter the weather'' at first light to continue looking for the body of Reed's missing 28-year-old brother.
