Atlanta, GA (MySportsbook) - The Atlanta Thrashers have traded forward Pascal Rheaume to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for a conditional draft pick in the 2004 NHL Draft. The 29-year-old Rheaume has tallied four goals and nine assists in 56 games this year. The native of Quebec City, Quebec, made his NHL debut with the Devils after signing as an unrestricted free agent on October 1, 1993. In 242 NHL games with New Jersey, St. Louis and Atlanta, Rheaume has posted 34 goals and 48 assists.
Thrashers Team Report: Still battling NHL Hockey 02/24/2003
(MySportsbook) - The Atlanta Thrashers aren't booking their spring tee times just yet. Yannick Tremblay and Dan Snyder scored third-period goals as the Thrashers rallied to earn a 3-3 tie against Edmonton at the SkyReach Centre on Sunday. Daniel Tjarnqvist also scored for the Thrashers, who have just one victory in their last seven games (1-4-2). "We were asleep for two periods," coach Bob Hartley said. "But the third period was one our best of the year." Hartley's crew could have earned a win with the effort
Oilers Team Report: Sliding out of contention NHL Hockey 02/24/2003
(MySportsbook) - The Edmonton Oilers jumped out to a two-goal lead on Sunday versus the Atlanta Thrashers and it looked as if they were about to get their first win in six games as they led by two with less than six minutes to play. However, as has been the case lately with Edmonton, the bottom fell out and the Thrashers rallied for a 3-3 tie. "It was like everybody came to the building waiting for something bad to happen," said coach Craig MacTavish. "We imploded the last 10 minutes of the hockey game." Eric

Atlanta, GA (MySportsbook) - Atlanta Thrashers goaltender Byron Dafoe has been diagnosed with a sports hernia and is likely to miss the remainder of the season, according to a published report. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution stated that the injured goaltender, who has been sidelined with groin injuries three times, is expected to have surgery. The 31-year-old Dafoe is 5-11-1 with a 4.36 goals-against average this season. A former Capital, King and Bruin, Dafoe is playing in his 11th season and has posted a
Avalanche Team Report: Streaks squashed on Long Island NHL Hockey 02/22/2003
s. "We put ourselves in a deep hole at the beginning of the year," said Peter Forsberg. "Vancouver's playing well, too, so it's tough to catch up. I think lately we've been in a good run, and now we have to start a new one. We have to get points. We have to keep on winning." WHAT'S AHEAD The Avs hope to start a new streak on Sunday when they open a four-game homestand against the New York Rangers. Also visiting the Pepsi Center on the stand will be the Edmonton Oilers, Atlanta Thrashers and Pittsburgh Penguins.
Lightning shoot for third straight win NHL Hockey 02/19/2003
Tampa, FL (MySportsbook) - The Tampa Bay Lightning seek their third straight victory tonight when they welcome the Atlanta Thrashers to the St. Pete Times Forum. Since an 0-2-1-1 slide, the Bolts have defeated Boston and Washington at home, including Monday's crucial 3-1 triumph over the Capitals. Dan Boyle and Fredrik Modin scored 1:44 apart in the third period to lift Tampa, which moved to within four points of the first-place Caps in the Southeast Division. Vaclav Prospal also scored and Nikolai Khabibulin
Thrashers shelve Dafoe and Nurminen; recall Hnilicka NHL Hockey 02/18/2003
Atlanta, GA (MySportsbook) - The Atlanta Thrashers have put goaltenders Byron Dafoe and Pasi Nurminen on injured reserve. The team also recalled goaltender Milan Hnilicka from the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League. Dafoe strained his left groin while warming up before Atlanta's 4-3 overtime victory over Buffalo on Monday. The 31-year old Dafoe is 5-11-1 with a 4.36 goals-against average this season. A groin injury earlier in the season put Dafoe on injured reserve. A former Capital, King and Bruin,
Sabres Team Report: Still the worst NHL Hockey 02/18/2003
(MySportsbook) - The Buffalo Sabres had a chance to garner some pride Monday night. As has been the case so often this season, though, it eluded them. Patrik Stefan scored a power-play goal with 1:06 left in overtime to lift the Atlanta Thrashers to a 4-3 victory over Buffalo at Philips Arena. The Thrashers snapped a four-game winless streak (0-3-1), while the Sabres have lost nine of their last 10 (1-6-0-3). With 44 points, the Sabres remain the NHL's worst club and are now four behind the Thrashers in the r

Atlanta, GA (MySportsbook) - Detroit Red Wings defensemen Chris Chelios returned to action in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Atlanta Thrashers. He entered the contest with two goals and 14 assists on the season. A three-time Norris Trophy winner, Chelios was runner-up last season to teammate Nicklas Lidstrom for the honor bestowed upon the NHL's best defensemen.
Thrashers activate Krupp NHL Hockey 02/12/2003
Atlanta, GA (MySportsbook) - The Atlanta Thrashers have activated defenseman Uwe Krupp and placed left wing Lubos Bartecko on injured reserve Wednesday. The 37-year-old Krupp has missed the past 53 games with a back injury that required surgery on November 6 to remove bone spurs. The 6-6, 240-pound defenseman is scoreless in one game with the Thrashers this season. Krupp has 69 goals and 212 assists in 726 career NHL games with Buffalo, the New York Islanders, Quebec, Colorado, Detroit and Atlanta. Bartecko,
